Futebol Cards
Sunday, December 16th, 2007Today I found a cool site whose subject is Futebol Cards, the cards that came along with the brazilian “Ping-Pong” chewing gum, and that were very popular among the boys of my generation, by the end of the 70s and early 80s.
The cards came with photos and biographies of soccer players from major teams from Brazil - although it didn’t feature any teams from the Northeast region (the region where Bahia, my home state, is located) - and were eagerly disputed by the kids in “bafo” matches - bafo is a popular game in which the cards are put with their faces down, then every player tries to flip them up, stinking the palms of their hands over the cards.
I owned most cards of collection, but eventually I lost them. Visiting the site, I could remember most of the old faces: players like Edinho, Nunes, Reinaldo and other idols, and some players that are completely forgotten nowadays, like Rubens Galaxe, Vilson Tadei and Neca.
